DBKU to register Ramadan bazaar trading lots on April 15

KUCHING: The registration of Ramadan bazaar trading lots at Jalan Semarak, Taman Sukma, and Medan Niaga Satok will be carried out on Monday (April 15) at Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya.

Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) said the registration will begin as early as 8.30am for Medan Niaga Satok lots, and 2.30pm for Jalan Semarak and Taman Sukma.

Each applicant is required to bring two passport-sized photographs, identity card (copy); food handling certificate, health screening report (with typhoid injection), and cash for the registration fee.

The list of charge rates according to location are as follows:

(1) Medan Niaga Satok – RM500 for traders selling chickens and/or roasted fish, and RM450 for food, drinks, pastries.

(2) Jalan Semarak – RM450 (chicken/roasted fish), and RM400 (foods, drinks, pastries).

(3) Taman Sukma – RM400 (chicken/roasted fish), and RM300 (foods, drinks, pastries).

All successful applicants are required to attend a briefing and voting session at 8am on April 18 at DBKU Bukit Siol Auditorium.

The number of permits issued is limited and any delay will not be entertained.

In addition, food handling cards will be issued at RM10 per registered trader.

DBKU also called on all traders who have received their lots to comply with the following requirements:

> The sale period is only from May 6 until June 4 and all traders are required to vacate their lots a day before Hari Raya to facilitate DBKU contractors to clean the site;

> Licensees and their assistants shall undergo medical examinations and typhoid vaccination by government/private medical officer;

> Undergo a food handling course accredited by the Ministry of Health;

> Traders also need to get DBKU approval if they want to change their sales type; and

> Registered traders cannot let other people rent their lots;

> Traders without permit are strictly prohibited from doing business in the area;

> Traders selling foods are required to keep their food stored in a closed container, clean and safe;

> Traders must be dressed neatly, wearing apron, head cover and gloves;

> DBKU will take samples for analysis purposes to ensure that the food sold to the public is safe; and

> Traders are strictly prohibited from using Styrofoam for packing food.
