MUKAH: Police on Wednesday arrested a 59-year-old gardener who was found hiding drugs inside a chicken coop near his house at Jalan Meruan junction, Jalan Selangau-Sibu.
District police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said on Dec 16 at around 11.40am, the police under Ops Bersepadu found a man inside an unnumbered house during a raid.
He added the man was arrested because the latter was suspected to be involved in drug related activities.
A check at a chicken coop located near the suspect’s house found and seized a green plastic bag containing crystalline substances suspected to be methamphetamine weighing about 26.69g and a small round silver-coloured tin container containing seven transparent plastic packet each containing crystalline substances suspected to be methamphetamine weighing about 7.96g,” he said in a statement today.
He added that a urine test on the suspect found that he (suspect) was drug positive, and the case is being investigated under Section 39A(2) and 15(1)(a) of Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
The suspect is being remanded for seven days from Dec 17 – 24 at the police station to assist in investigation.
