5th day sees 13 assemblymen debating on supply bill

The fifth day of the third session of the first term of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Friday (Nov 25) has run smoothly with a continuous debate by 13 state assemblymen.

The sitting started at 9.07am with elected representatives from across the state converging at the DUN complex.

The sitting began with a prayer in the chambers and the DUN speaker Datuk Amar Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar having granted leave of absence to Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon on Nov 25 while Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang from Wednesday to Friday (Nov 25).

The sitting proceeded with an hour of question-and-answer session followed by the debate on the second reading of the Supply Bill (2023) 2022 and a motion to refer to the Resolution of the Development Expenditure Budget for 2023.

This morning’s sitting saw three assemblymen debating – starting with Tanjung Datu, Lingga and Bawang Assan before recess at 11.03am.

The debate continued at 2pm as DUN Deputy Speaker Datuk Idris Buang sat in for Asfia during the proceedings.

Tebedu and Serembu debated in support of the Bill followed by Telang Usan, Beting Maro and Opar before Padungan addressed the House.

Next up were Machan, Bukit Begunan, Baleh, Stakan and lastly followed by Simunjan in support of the Bill.

Before adjourning the sitting, Idris addressed the House that the DUN session will be continued on Tuesday (Nov 29) and will end next Thursday (Dec 1).

This is following the announcement of the state government declaring that Monday (Nov 28) is a public holiday in line with the announcement of the newly-appointed Prime Minister.

The sitting was adjourned at 5.41pm.
