60 babies born on New Year’s Day

KUCHING: While most people were celebrating New Year’s Day, government hospitals in the state were kept busy with 60 babies — including twins — born on New Year’s Day.

Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) recorded the highest number with 30 babies born — 17 boys and 13 girls.

The first baby born that day at 12.03am was a boy, while the last baby born at 11.29pm was a girl.

In Lundu Hospital, as of Jan 1 at 2.38pm, received two babies — a girl and a boy.

As for Serian Hospital, a baby boy was delivered at 5.11pm.

Further up in Sibu Hospital, nine babies were born there with six girls and three boys — the first baby, a girl, was born at 7.26am.

Ten more babies were delivered at Miri Hospital, with six boys and four girls. The last baby was born at 8.33pm.

In Bintulu Hospital, eight babies were born including a pair of twins — a boy and a girl.
