600 partake in Family Day events

DARO: Downpours towards the end of the event failed to dampen the spirit of the participants of the Family Day, held here, over the weekend.

About six hundred people from all walks of life from the area thronged the Daro Mini Stadium to witness and partake in the programme until the end.

The joyful occasion that featured telematches was organised by AIM (Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia) Daro District Branch.

Among the items highlighted were Gunny sack run (relay), Searching sweets in flour(relay), titian kasih, Keretapi Tanah Melayu, penguin comel, three-legged race, carrying pingpong ball in spoon, kasih sayang straw, kain pelikat Pak Pandir, bottle fishing, ayam kedek-kedek, balloon blowing, coke drinking, raut lidi (veteran 58 above), ketupat weaving, ball dribbling, areca fruit peeling, paling jauh, carrying shuttlecock in dulang, sambung kasih sayang, the most number of balloons blown, running with umbrella and coconut peeling competition.

It was divided into several categories, namely, group event, individual and for the husbands of the Sahabats(members).

It was declared open by the village chief, KK Ali Akbar bin Aban, who represented Daro State Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.

According to the programme’s spokesperson, Marrydiyanti Haji Hamidon, it was aimed at developing the potential of the local women entrepreneurs especially among the AIM members at the much desired level.

“It is done as a platform to improve the development of the members through the entrepreneurship activity organised, to expand the business network among the members be-at the domestic and international level, an avenue to unite the members and to represent the women and the local community in the programme involving the AIM,” she said.

She pointed that it was also an avenue to improve and spur the enterprising ideas among the women especially Usahawanita(women entrepreneurs).

“And it is also to improve the awareness among the local community and international community on the existence of local women entrepreneurs club to market the local and foreign products, and as an avenue to expand the business potentials of the AIM entrepreneurs,” disclosed Marrydiyanti.

Besides it, it was a platform to foster closer rapport between the participating members of AIM known as Sahabats.
They were from Kuwid Daro Branch that comprised six blocks, namely, Daro, Matu, Igan, Datu, Semop and Bruit.
