SIBU: A group of 68 participants attended a three-day ‘Training of Trainers (ToT) Digital Community Centre Workshop’ here recently.

It was organised by the Sarawak State Library. Among those who attended were participants from village libraries under the National Library of Malaysia and libraries under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH).

Participants also came from Kuching and Miri to be trained as trainers for the Digital Community Centre.

The workshop was in line with the Sarawak government’s intention to benefit the digital economy. A total of 42 libraries under the Sarawak Digital Community Centre Project will serve as a digital related training centre for the community, providing exposure to villagers.

Around 20 of the libraries under the Sarawak Digital Community Centre Project will be launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) which will be held on October 7.

The objectives of the project are to provide ICT service and support platform, empower community digital skills and build talent capacity. It also enhances digital awareness and availability for current and future needs.

Facilitators for the workshop were Razak Rambili and Edison Ricket from Pustaka Sarawak, freelance motivator Mohd Ariff Azahari, Desmond Jerukan from MLGH and Khairool Adzelan from Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation.
