INTER-DISTRICT TRAVEL

KUCHING: A total of 6,909 applications for inter-district travel were received by 28 Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) District Headquarters throughout Sarawak yesterday, bringing the cumulative total to 22,048 thus far.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement yesterday said that of this total, 20,998 applications had been approved while 1,050 were rejected.

“Meanwhile, 2,332 locations were monitored today (yesterday, May 16), such as supermarkets/restaurants/factories (1,815); markets (381); places of worship (75); recreational locations (38); and construction sites (23),” they said.

They reported surveillance findings that members of the public who were out for their daily business complied with social distancing measures and wore face masks.

“Supermarkets, restaurants, and banks are among the premises frequently visited,” they said.

They said that surveillance teams always advised the public and business premise owners to comply with the conditions of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

As of yesterday, 26,603 notifications of opening of economic activities had been received.

“Of this total, 19,103 were received online and 7,500 via email,” stated SDMC.
