PULAU BRUIT: About 70 people comprising Pulau Bruit Graduates Organisation (PBGO) exco members and local residents turned up at a gotong-royong (mutual assist) activity organised by PBGO recently.

Gotong-royong activity was the first community programme of PBGO for this year which aimed to clean up and cutting the grass along the 16km-road which involved villages such Kampung Tekajong, Kampung Penipah, Kampung Salah Kechil, Kampung Betanak, Kampung Penibong and Kampung Penuai.

According to PBGO secretary, Raduan Serap, the long grass along the roads was worrying the local people because residents feared there are poisonous creatures such as snakes.

“Therefore, we carried out gotong-royong activity with local people to cut the grass and clean up the roads for their  convenience.

“Before the gotong-royong activity, we had been informed that the grass along the road was quite long and difficult for the people to travel to another village, Daro or nearest health clinic. The situation also made it

difficult for the people to go to paddy field or farm,” he said when contacted by reporters here yesterday.

After the gotong-royong activity, he said the the road seemed to be wider and would facilitate better the movement of the local people.

Meanwhile, he also said that the gotong-royong activity could strengthen rapport and relationships as well as helped to

maintain the spirit of cooperation, consensus and harmony between the local people and also the PBGO.
