KUCHING: 2,412 (74 per cent) applications for community pharmacists registered under the Ministry of Health (MoH) were approved through the Covid-19 Intelligent Management system (CIMS 3.0).

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) said as of June 10, 2,902 (89 per cent) applications under the Pharmaceutical Sector, Retail/Distribution/Wholesale, were received through the system.

Applications were received after the statement made by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on May 30 concerning the list of essential services during the MCO period.

“There are 10 services listed as essential under the distributive trade sector, including pharmacy communities,” said a KPDNHEP spokesperson.

Up until April this year, 3,274 community pharmacy premises are licensed under the Poisons Act 1952.

“The MoH decided that starting from June 1, community pharmacies that wish to operate must apply for permission through the CIMS 3.0 system under the Pharmaceutical Sector, Retail/Distribution/Wholesale.” The spokesperson added.

For those yet to submit their application, they can do so at KPDNHEP’s portal https://notification.miti.gov.my and it is advisable to contact the nearest KPDNHEP office for further enquiries.
