751 premises sanitised statewide

KUCHING: A total of 751 premises have been sanitised statewide since March 30.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hing said disinfection work was carried out at 306 government buildings, 123 places of worship, 83 assembly points, on 76 public transportation (vehicles), 62 public markets, 38 housing areas, 35 supermarkets, 26 hotels and two factories.

“Kuching recorded the most with 247, followed by Miri (136), Bintulu (60), Sarikei (52), Kota Samarahan (48), Limbang (45), Sibu (38), Betong (29), Sri Aman (28), Kapit (26), and 21 each in Serian and Mukah,” he said in a statement.

Some 8,944 personnel were involved in carrying out the operations. They comprised members from Bomba, Civil Defence Force, Health Ministry, police, People’s Volunteer Corps, local authorities, district offices, auxiliary police, and other agencies.

As of 5.30pm yesterday here, three Madrasah Darul Uloom Islamiyyah in the Matang, Gita and Rampangi branches were sanitised by a total of 20 personnel.

Meanwhile, 24 kindergartens, nurseries and primary schools in Mukah, Samarahan, Miri and Bintulu have been sanitised by 30 personnel.

Eight personnel carried out sanitisation work at St Francis Xavier’s church in Kanowit, while 10 personnel sanitised the Immigration and Customs Quarantine Complex (ICQS) in Tebedu, Serian.

In Tanjung Manis, the Al-Firdaus mosque was sanitised by three personnel while eight personnel did sanitisation work at the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) in Siburan.

In Lawas, 29 personnel carried out sanitisation work on an express boat that was used to transport students from Limbang to Lawas.
