753 PUS at quarantine centres

KUCHING: Forty-one Sarawakians returned from Malaya, Sabah, Labuan and overseas on Saturday. They were immediately whisked off to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantine at designated centres in the state.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee in a daily update on Covid-19 yesterday said the total number of these persons under surveillance (PUS) stood at 753 as of Saturday.

In Kuching, 107 of them are under quarantine in Lee Hotel, 85 in Grand Dormani Rajah Court and 78 in Kuching Park Hotel.

In Miri, there are 81 PUS in Mega Hotel, Somerset Hotel (45), Ostay Inn (13), Cosy Inn (40), Imperial Palace Hotel (63) and Eastwood Resort (13).

Limbang has 88 PUS placed in Purnama Hotel and another 140 in Park City Everly Hotel.

SDMC said as of yesterday, 2,247 personnel from various agencies have been involved in sanitising operations at red and orange zone areas statewide.

To date, 54 location have been sanitised in Kuching, Miri (32), Sarikei (13), eight locations in Samarahan, Sri Aman (four), three areas in Betong and Sibu, Bintulu (four) and Limbang (eight). This brings to 129 locations that have been sanitised.

SDMC urged Sarawakians to continue to strictly obey the movement control order (MCO) which has been further extended until April 28 in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
