77 errant motorists handed summonses

MARUDI: A total 77 summonses were issued to motorists by police here during the ten-day Ops Selamat 18 which ended on Sunday (May 8).

According to district police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib, there were more summonses compared to Ops Selamat 15 in 2019.

“During Ops Selamat 15 in 2019, a total of 40 summonses were issued , but this year, we recorded 77 summonses for various traffic offences,” he said.

Most summonses issued were for failure to produce driving licences during inspection(10) and registration plates not conforming to specifications (10).

“This was followed by motorcycles without side mirrors (9),” Ruslan added.
