He said of the 78 new cases, 25 were imported cases and 53 were local infections.

“Of the 53 local infections, 40 involve non-Malaysians with 25 of them detected at the Immigration Depot in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur,” he told a daily media conference on Covid-19 here yesterday.

He said there were 63 recoveries today, bringing the total of those who have recovered from Covid-19 and discharged from hospital to 5,859 cases (82.1 percent).

One death was reported yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of death due to Covid-19 in the country to 115 or 1.61 percent of the total cases, he added.

“The 115th death case involved a 65-year-old local man with diabetes, hypertension and kidney problem.

Dr Noor Hisham said to date, nine Covid-19 positive cases were being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with five in need of respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, he advised the public to maintain a responsible attitude when carrying out any activities outdoor or at home, including in preparing for the Aidilfitri celebration.
