8 arrested in Miri after testing positive for drugs

MIRI: Eight people who tested positive for drugs at entertainment centres here were arrested by the police during Ops Bersepadu.

According to the district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the operation was carried out by a team from Miri Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Commercial Crime Investigation Division from May 14 at 9pm to May 15 at 3am.

He added during the operation, the police examined 14 individuals at several entertainment centres in the district.

“They were instructed to undergo urine tests.

“Seven men and one woman, ages 26 to 53, tested positive for amphetamine as a result of the urine tests,” he said.

The matter would be investigated further by the police.
