MUKAH: Eight Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) from Oya jointly organised a Hari Raya open house here recently.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who attended the open house, applauded it.
She said it showcased unity among the different races in Oya.
“The celebration is overwhelming because of the cooperation and unity among the Melanau and Chinese. Although the Chinese community in Oya is small, what is important is the unity among the various races.”
The Raya open house was attended by the Melanau as well as the Chinese.
Meanwhile, inspired by the success of the Raya open house, the 8 JKKKs from Oya are already planning to organise the next Chinese New Year open house.
