SRI AMAN: About 800 participants joined in the Niti Daun Gawak Dayak Parade Sri Aman Division level held here, recently.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said such events should be continued to preserve the traditions and customs of the Dayak community.

Harden, who was representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, made these remarks at the event.

He also supported the suggestion put forth by Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang, to hold the programme on a rotational basis among associations in Sri Aman.

Harden emphasised that this would instill a sense of responsibility among the local community in preserving and promoting the traditional attire and customs of the Dayak ethnic group.

At the same event, both him and Sri Aman MP Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie announced an allocation of RM10,000 each for Minor Rural Projects (MRP) while Mong pledged RM7,000.
