KUCHING: Some 800 civil servants took part in health and fitness talks during the Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) Health Carnival 2019.

The closing ceremony of the carnival was officiated by State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion at the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here.

The two-day carnival themed ‘Be Active, Get Fit’ aimed at ensuring that civil servants acquire knowledge and exposure on health aspects, especially on chronic diseases and the importance of health care.

At the same time, exhibits from 14 agencies were displayed around the building and included free basic health screening, a blood donation drive and information on health products.

Jaul told that on Nov 20 to 21, a total of 118 SCS officers had taken part in a physical fitness test.

“I am glad that all of them are healthy and fit because healthy officers will give the best service and performance to their organisation, as well as to Sarawakians,” he said.

Yesterday, he also flagged-off a SCS Fun Run here which saw 200 participants.

Among those who took part in the run were Human Resource Unit director Ismail Mohamad Hanis, deputy State Secretaries Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik and Datuk Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Forest Department Sarawak director Datuk Hamden Mohammad and officers from various government agencies.

Jaul takes a medical check-up, held as part of the activities during the SCS Fun Run.
