KUCHING: A total of 890 affected families in the Kuala Rajang constituency have been receiving their food aid since March this year.

All members of these households are those affected by restrictions due to the various lockdowns to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Urban Development and Natural Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said of the total, 751 are from the Tanjung Manis zone and the remaining 139 are from the Sarikei zone.

“Last week, through the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kuala Rajang service centre, we distributed 55 sets of food aid to the residents of Kampung Stalun.

“They were affected by the quarantine order dated May 27 due to the spread of Covid-19 cases in the area.

“Even though I am not on the ground, my team is always moving to fulfil its responsibilities to serve the people,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday pertaining to the latest movement restriction ruling in the area.

Len hoped that the assistance distributed will ease the burden of the recipients to some extent.

At the same time, he urged the residents to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to break the current chain of infection.

“Together we pray that everything will be eased and the disease can be avoided,” he said.
