KUCHING: A total of 935 individuals in Tanjung Manis received their assistances for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.

Urban Development and Natural Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the recipients comprised the asnaf, disabled (OKU), single mothers, orphans and converts.

“This is for the Tanjung Manis zone comprising Kampung Belawai, Jerijeh, Rajang and Bukit Kinyau,” he said in a Facebook post last Saturday.

He said the contribution amounted to RM143,600 of which RM96,100 was channelled by Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) while RM47,500 from the Kuala Rajang constituency service centre.

“The contribution was presented symbolically through community leaders representing 935 recipients.

“A similar donation was also distributed in the Sarikei zone the day before which amounted to RM40,400,” he said.

Earlier, Len also attended a presentation of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Belawai Clinic donated by the Kuala Rajang constituency service centre.

A total of 500 face shields, 500 gloves, 1,000 face masks, 500 KN-95 face masks, 500 plastic aprons (white) and 500 plastic aprons (blue) were distributed for the use of the frontliners.

The Kuala Rajang assemblyman said similar donations will be given to those celebrating Gawai in the near future.

He also hoped that the recipients would benefit greatly from the donation.
