KUCHING: Ninety-eight percent of the eligible residents in the districts of Daro and Matu have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.
“We will be able to achieve herd immunity by August,” Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (July 6).
On Tuesday (July 6), the MP visited the Daro Community Hall vaccination centre (PPV) to monitor the vaccine rollout.
“A total of 400 people, including non-citizens, were inoculated at the Daro Community Hall PPV today.
“The vaccine recipients also consist of 100 employees of the Muara Lassa Daro bridge construction project. Vaccination on a walk-in basis was also available.
“I would like to call upon those who have yet to be vaccinated to come forward to the PPV as soon as possible,” he said.
At the same time, Ahmad Johnie also expressed his gratitude towards the frontliners for ensuring that the vaccine rollout is implemented smoothly.
Earlier, the MP had met with the Daro and Matu district officers for a briefing on the current vaccine rollout.
During the meeting, he also discussed about the distribution procedure of the food basket programme under the National People’s Wellbeing and Economic Recovery Package (Pemulih).
