‘99 financial statements given certificate without reprimand’

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Audit Department (NAD) has audited the financial statements of 113 federal agencies for the 2018 financial year as of Aug 30 this year said Auditor-General (AG) Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid.

Of the total, he said 99 financial statements were given audit certificate without reprimand, six were given without reprimand with an emphasis of matter (EOM) and eight were given certificate with reprimand.

Thirty-five financial statements have not been finalised, while two federal agencies have yet to submit their financial statements.

“The audit was in accordance with established guidelines, including preparation of an audit planning memorandum, risk assessment and audit evidence, communication with management and governance, sampling and reporting,” he said in a press statement today.

The press release on the 2018 Auditor-General’s Report Series 2 covered audit on the management of companies, activities of ministries, departments, federal and state government agencies as well as statutory bodies in 2018 which was presented in Parliament today.

In addition, he said 12 performance audits were carried out at the federal government level and 21 at the state level covering among others, programme management, activities, construction, upgrading, maintenance and revenue management.

Management audits were carried out on seven government companies and nine were at the state level, which covered audits on corporate governance, management of activities and financial position of the companies.

To enable corrective action to be taken, the NAD tabled 57 recommendations on the activities of federal ministries, departments and statutory bodies, 43 recommendations on management of federal government companies and 132 recommendations on management of activities by ministries, departments, agencies and management of state government companies to address reported weaknesses.

Three volumes of the AG’s federal-level reports will be available on the NAD’s website at http://www.audit.gov.my.

Reports involving the 13 states will only be posted on the website after it has been tabled at the respective state assembly sittings. – Bernama
