KUCHING: The game of darts should be participated by people of all ages in an effort to uncover new talents, said Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
According to him, the game of darts is very popular in European countries and the equipment needed to play the game are affordable to all.
“That is why we want to expand the participation of the game of darts to people of all ages, and at the same time helps us to uncover new talents among the younger generation to represent the state and even the nation,” he said when officiating at the closing ceremony of ‘BGS 2017 Open-Doubles Dart Competition for the Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s Cup at Sarawak Plaza here, yesterday.
Dr Abdul Rahman also disclosed that they are going to set up a venue for dart enthusiasts in the state to practice.
“If possible, we also want to have a place for the new talents to practice their game because we want to ensure that our dart players get international recognition,” he said.
He also hoped that a big dart competition will be organised in the future to attract more players from throughout the country or even at the international level.
Meanwhile, Gargoyles Mukah Team emerged champion of the ‘BGS 2017 Open-Doubles Dart Competition of the Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s Cup to bring home RM2,000 and medals,
In second place was Playcrew RR Team which won RM1,000 and medals while in third place was METZ Team which won RM600 and medals.
Sixty-one teams from throughout the state participated in the two-day (2-3 Sept) BGS 2017 Open-Doubles Dart Competition for the Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s Cup.
