PBB mini convention in Betong Sept 26

KUCHING: Betong will host the second PBB mini convention on Sept 26.

A committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has been formed to organise it.

The committee held its second meeting here today. The Betong convention is the second one after the one held in Miri on Sept 5.

Some 800 party leaders and members from 14 branches in Bukit Saban, Spaoh, Layar, Beting Maro, Saribas, Kalaka, Batang Ai, Engkilili, Balai Ringin, Lingga, Sebuyau, Simanggang, Krian and Kabong are expected to attend.

The convention will be held at Dewan Sukan Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is PBB president, is expected to declare open the one-day event, said Uggah, who is a deputy president of the party and Bukit Saban assemblyman.

He said four papers touching on land, politics, entrepreneur development and development (infrastructure and amenities) would be presented.

Uggah, who is also Minister of Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development, will give a talk on land and its related issues.

Santubong MP Datuk Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is Federal Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister and Simanggang PBB chief, will talk on entrepreneur development.

The next convention will be held in Sibu next month, followed by the final one in Kuching.
