Non-SOP compliance lands culprits in hot soup

KUCHING: Police have issued a total of two compounds to individuals for failing to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places as measures to curb Covid-19.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the compounds were issued one each in Bau and Sarikei.

“The Local Government Ministry also issued 141 notices in verbal, written and confiscation warnings, namely through Sibu Municipal Council (45), Bintulu Development Authority (39), Marudi District Council (35), Kuching North City Hall (12), Serian District Council (five), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (three), Miri City Council (two) and Sarikei District Council (one),” it said.

On SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams inspected 1,608 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 289 restaurants. Others were supermarkets (168), banks (103), public markets (62), places of worship (159), hawker stalls (41), government offices (58), leisure places (40), construction sites (19), factories (22), and others (674).

SDMC also said 824 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu with one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
