MUKAH: Police arrested a woman for selling various types of firecrackers and fireworks at her shop in Pasar Lama here.

Acting on public information, a police team raided the premises around 12.40pm on Saturday (April 23) and detained the 50-year-old woman for questioning.

In a statement, Mukah OCPD DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias ​​said officers discovered a total of 302 boxes of firecrackers and 206 boxes of fireworks displayed in the shop.

“Inspections found that the suspect did not have a licence or permit to sell the items, all worth around RM4,500.

“Among the firecrackers and fireworks seized were 150 boxes of Pop Pop V8500 firecrackers, nine boxes of Glow of Sun Set FF020 fireworks and 30 boxes of Coloured Flowers W026A.”

The suspect said that she had rented the premises in October last year.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957 (Firecrackers and Fireworks).
