JERTIH: A supermarket in the town of Jertih has decided to implement Rahmah Sales in an effort to answer the Unity Government’s call to reduce the burden of the people.

Pantai Timur Supermarket Jertih branch manager Lee Soon Chew said such sales did not cause losses to the supermarket as it received such a great response and recorded a 30 per cent increase instead throughout the entire period of the recent Rahmah Sale.

Customers also reached up to 5,000 people during the two-day sale inspired by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) initiative.

“We sold 77 products at lower prices, with 20 to 26 per cent discounts, including daily necessities including sundries.

“The response was really encouraging compared to usual days, especially with the recent drop in customers,” he told Bernama recently.

Lee added that the supermarket was honoured to have stepped up to the government’s call to reduce the burden of the B40 group, and help them save on their daily expenditure.

He said they were always ready to hold another Rahmah Sale and hoped that the government would help strengthen the retail sector.

A customer of the supermarket, Hasmida Roslan, 27, from Kampung Gerai here hoped that the Rahmah Sale could be held more often to offer those in need a chance to spend less and save more.

“The Rahmah Sale really helps those who are less fortunate, especially with the national economy being in not such a good situation.

“With such initiatives, those with less funds can also save and use those savings for other necessities,” the housewife said.
