Harfidi, Alyssa win ‘Run Into Sawit’ 10km

MIRI: Harfidi Hashim and Alyssa Leona clinched the top spots in the 10-kilometer race for men and women respectively during the “Run Into Sawit 2023” today (Sept 16).

Meanwhile, Nelson Mawing and Melissa Parrot emerged as winners in the 5-kilometre category.

Out of the runners, 179 were Sarawak Oil Palm Berhad (SOP) employees who participated in the 5-kilometer run. This group comprised 124 men and 55 women. The more challenging 10-kilometer race saw 41 runners, including 31 men and 10 women.

The races took place at SOP Lambir Estate. The 10-kilometer race began at 7 am, quickly followed by the 5-kilometer race just five minutes later at 7.05 am.

Senior estate manager, Lee Tien Sing, had the honour of officiating at the races.

The “Run Into Sawit 2023” lived up to its name, pulling in enthusiastic runners, sports enthusiasts, and committed SOP staff members.

Speaking of SOP’s commitment to health and community involvement, Lee said, “The success of ‘Run into Sawit 2023′ reflects our dedication to our employees’ well-being and the broader community. We organised this event as a key part of our 55th Anniversary celebrations, and we extend our gratitude to everyone involved.”
