KUCHING: The Sarawak Para Contingent is geared up and determined to secure victory at the upcoming 21st Sarawak Para Sukma Games scheduled for Sept 20 to 28.

With the aim of reclaiming the championship title from Sabah, the contingent is eyeing at least 84 gold medals across the 10 sports events to be contested.

Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam highlighted the challenging task ahead for the athletes but expressed confidence in the contingent’s capabilities.

He stressed the importance of utilising the advantage of being the host to the fullest to achieve the goal of regaining the championship.

“The advantage as the host should be utilised to the fullest. This time we must strive hard to regain the championship,” he told the media after a courtesy call from the Sabah Contingent delegation today (Mar 7).

Razi mentioned that preparations for all athletes, including those in the long list or shadow squad, are progressing smoothly. The finalisation of positions for existing athletes is pending, and the registration deadline is set for July 31.

Sarawak Para Sukma Contingent has a rich history, having been champions 13 times since 1994, and they are eager to add another title to their impressive record in 2024.
