SIBU: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Matang Jaya Kuching emerged champion in the state-level sketch competition organised by the State Information Department.

SMK Medamit Limbang and SMK Matu Sarikei were second and third respectively.

State Information Director Abang Sardon Abang Hashim said appreciation for national principles or ‘Rukun Negara’  among the younger generation could be enhanced through sketch competitions which could provide a platform for students to show their understanding and appreciation for the national pillar.

He said the state-level sketch competition helped secondary school students to showcase their talents and love for the national principles via acting that could entertain the audience.

He said such competition also helped students to build their confidence level besides helping in nurturing positive values such as respect for each other, cooperation in maintaining the peace and unity and patriotism towards the country.
