Longest, non-stop direct telecast in multi languages gains MBOR entry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today succeeded in making a record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the Longest Non-Stop National Direct Telecast in Various Languages for 25 hours beginning 7 am yesterday.

The non-stop direct telecast until 9 am today provided useful information in conjunction with Malaysia Day by broadcasting various interactive programmes and discussions in four languages via all Bernama channels namely Bernama News Channel (BNC), Bernama Radio, Bernama.com as well as all the social media platforms of the news agency.

The programme started yesterday with a cross-over with the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) secretary-general Datuk Suriani Ahmad in Kuching, Sarawak, the venue where the 56th Malaysia Day celebration was being held this year.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali were also present at the cross-over from Sarawak last night in conjunction with the celebration from the Land of the Hornbills.

The non-stop telecast which received sponsorships from Terra Security, Maad Travel and Fomema Sdn Bhd also broadcast various interesting news and cross-overs involving about 300 editors/sub-editors, journalists and broadcast journalists, producers, cameramen, technical crew as well as other departments under Bernama.

The cross-over also involved journalists at the bureaus throughout the country as well as correspondents abroad such as in Jakarta and Singapore.

Throughout the direct telecast, viewers and listeners had the opportunity to win prizes worth RM81,000 including a holiday package for two to Jeju Island, South Korea by answering a quiz on the Independence Day, Malaysia Day and Bernama which would be on air every one hour.

The programme aired on BNC at Astro Channel 502, UnifiTV (631), MYTV (121), iflix, and Bernama Radio via FM93.9 (Kuala Lumpur), FM107.5 (Johor Bahru), FM100.9 (Kuching) and FM 107.9 (Kota Kinabalu). – Bernama
