The virtual interview between Yayasan Sarawak and students for BYSTT.

Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) is dedicated to giving Sarawakians various forms of educational scholarships in keeping with its primary objectives.

Yayasan Sarawak conducted interviews with 362 students from various public universities for the Sarawak Foundation Tun Taib Scholarship (BYSTT) from September 20 to September 30, 2022, focusing on STEM-related programmes.

For the Sarawak Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship Foundation (YBSTAR) non-STEM courses, a total of 366 students were interviewed and implemented online for both types of scholarships.

Sarawakians who want to continue their studies at Sarawak government-owned private universities such as Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), and Curtin University Malaysia can apply for the Bursary BP40 scheme, which is available to 100 bumiputera students at each university and another 100 non-bumiputera students at UTS.

Applications for the Bursary BP40 scheme are made through the respective universities, and students who are eligible will receive the scholarship for the duration of their study.

The scheme is primarily aimed at students from low and middle-income (B40 and M40) families.

Sarawak Foundation Local Scholarship (BTYS) is a scholarship programme that aims to provide scholarships to high school students in Sarawak, specifically those in the B40 group.
BTYS provides funding for education, enabling students to continue their study, and promoting students’ improvement in academic achievement.

During the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak session in 2018, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced that Sarawak students studying in higher education institutions (IPTs) would be given an incentive to subsidise return flight tickets to Sarawak during the festive season.

Thus, Abang Johari inspired the Inisiatif Graduan Pulang Sarawak (i-GPS), in partnership with Sarawak Volunteers, to reduce the burden of Sarawak students purchasing airline tickets for RM300, which can be applied for twice a year.

All types of scholarships are available and can be applied online via the Yayasan Sarawak Student Apps application or by visiting the website at www.yayasansarawak.org.my.
