KUCHING: The Christmas season is here and in a few days’ time, Christians will welcome Christmas Day. Asked about her preparation this year, Jee Ching Foong, 25, a student from a private college here, said it was a bit quiet compared to last year. “I don’t know why but this year, maybe it’s just a simple celebration for my family.

“Probably, we will have a Christmas eve dinner outside . We used to cook the dinner ourselves. “Although it’s just a simple celebration, what matters the most is the family gathering. We all come together to celebrate Christmas,” she said.

Meanwhile, Olivia Baha, 27, a government servant, said: “This year, we decorated and tidied up our house earlier for the open house on Christmas Day.

“We also ordered food earlier as well and shopped for more food. “I feel this year’s celebration will be more special compared to last year as my leave was approved and I can hang around with my family and friends who come from far,” she said.

Diane Zacros, 22, a part time kindergarten teacher, said her family would not have a Christmas Day open house this year. “We will have a family gathering and then, we will go away for a vacation,” she said.

She added her family also planned to make Christmas cakes and biscuits to bring along with them on the vacation. “We also decorate our house and listen to Christmas songs to get in the mood for Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ,” said Diane.
