KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng was well pleased to see local communities around Kuching area responding to MBKS’ call to develop a more caring society.

He said this in reference to Seoul Garden Charity Lunch for underprivileged families from KMC Flats held at Seoul Garden restaurant at Third Mile here, yesterday.

“I was very happy when Seoul Garden contacted MBKS and told us they are organising a charity luncheon for underprivileged families,” said Wee in an interview with reporters after officiating at the charity event.

Wee said charitable gestures such as this is what the city needs in order to help the local government move forward and to develop into a greater, caring and loving society.

“I think this is very encouraging. It shows there are some private sectors that care for the less fortunate.

“To me, doing charity is not measured by how much you are contributing; the most important thing is showing kindness and giving love and care to those who need it most,” he said.

The charity luncheon provided Korean BBQ and buffet for over 30 children and parents of KMC Flats while their transportation to the restaurant was sponsored by Cat City Holidays Sdn Bhd.

“This is the society I want to see. It shows that our multicultural society is able to live in harmony together.

Wee also made clear that any person or organisation can liaise with MBKS for details on charities around the city, what is needed, and what can be contributed.

“I hope this is a continuous effort by local communities and organisations and that more agencies would respond to our (MBKS) call to develop a more caring society,” said Wee.
