KUCHING: The future of Sarawak must remain in the hands of Sarawakians by voting for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) said its chief whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

He said by choosing GPS, it would mean that the state-based coalition will influence the policies of the federal government so that they are beneficial to Sarawak.

“If we choose Pakatan Harapan (PH), it means that we are giving our mandate to the PH party bosses.

“If we choose GPS, while the decision is made by the federal government, we will have a say so that the policies are friendly to Sarawak,” he said.

He said this after a Sembang Petang (Afternoon Chit-Chat) session with youths in Petra Jaya at an eatery at Jalan Haji Taha here yesterday.

Fadillah who is Petra Jaya GPS candidate said Sarawak’s voice in the federal government is reflective of the equal status of Sarawak, Sabah, and Malaya in the federation.

“So, we must not be influenced by the opposition. In GPS’ manifesto we are fighting for Sarawak rights and ensure we have a louder voice,” he said.

Also present during the session were Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; Kuching City South deputy mayor Hilmy Othman and political secretary to the Premier Abdul Samat Gany.
