KUCHING: Apart from extinguishing fires, promoting safety and protecting the public from danger, firefighters also serve to help animals and pet owners in any dire situation.
A distress call received at around 10:30am this morning had led a team of firemen to a house located in Desa Ilmu, Kota Samarahan which had a puppy trapped in an underground hole near the house.
Following the assessment of the scene, the firemen afterwards took out their shovels and hoes and started digging.
Digging continued until the underground hole was accessible. At around 11:30am, the operation ended with the puppy being rescued, removed successfully out from the hole and was safely returned its owner.
