MIRI: A healthy baby boy weighing 2.9kg was found with his umbilical cord still attached on Sunday morning in a vacant wooden hut adjacent to the Miri Crocodile Farm in Kuala Bakam.

The area is at about 14 km from Miri City.

The discovery was made around 10am by a young woman in her early 20s who happened to pass by the area.

According to sources, at first the woman thought she heard the sound of a kitten but when she checked the hut, she found a baby boy wrapped up in a sarong.

Subsequently, a family in a car approached the area and saw the young woman waving for help while clutching something.

The family members were on their way to the crocodile farm.

Shocked with the discovery, the family immediately called the police.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah yesterday, the baby has been taken to Miri Hospital.
