Abandoned factory destroyed in morning fire

KUCHING: An abandoned factory at Mile 8, Jalan Kuching-Serian was completely destroyed in a fire yesterday morning.

According to State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, a distress call was received around 6.55am and a team of firefighters from Batu Lintang fire and rescue station (BBP) was immediately despatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the team found that the 50×100 square foot abandoned factory was already totally razed to the ground.

It was said that the premises was used as a storage unit for empty glass bottles.

The firemen managed to extinguish the fire completely around 7.20am.

No casualties were reported during the incident.
