KOTA SAMARAHAN: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg visited several villages here yesterday to address the residents’ problems hands-on.

Abang Johari speaks to an officer during his visit to Kampung Pinang.

He also visited a water project in Tambirat, Asajaya including the pipe fitting area via Samarahan bridge.

“The pipe has been fitted and within two months, we can expect good water pressure enjoyed by the residents,” he told reporters at the site.

The chief minister also visited a river in the village which was reported to be contaminated, putting all fishing activities to a halt.

“I was informed by the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) that it is still within control.

“This means that the situation is not bad but we have taken control measures to ensure that the water in Sungai Kampung Pinang is not contaminated.”

Abang Johari also said he heard that there was unease over the participation of Felcra in agricultural sector in the area.

“It is not a major issue and I have urged the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in collaboration with the Land and Survey Department to look into the issue.

“This is to ensure that the local community still has their rights to lands which can be developed with government agencies including Felcra,” he said.
