Abang Johari accompanies Anwar on visit to Brunei

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived in Brunei Darussalam about 12 noon yesterday (Jan 24) to accompany Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his first visit to Brunei.

According to a press statement, upon his arrival in Bandar Seri Begawan, the Premier attended a pre-meeting that lasted about two hours which was chaired by the Prime Minister at a hotel in the capital of Brunei.

The pre-meeting was to refine matters of bilateral cooperation that will be brought up for discussion with the Sultan of Brunei today (Jan 25).

Accompanying Abang Johari were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki and several other dignitaries.

Last night, Abang Johari and Anwar attended a dinner with the Malaysian Diaspora organised by the Malaysian Embassy in Brunei.

Today (Jan 25), the Premier and the Malaysian delegation will meet Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, at Cheradi Ratna Kenchana, lstana Nurul lman and are expected to attend an official banquet at Baitur Rahmah, lstana Nurul lman.
