MUKAH: Pakatan Harapan’s promise of giving 20% oil-gas royalty to the state has been described in Sarawak Malay as “abu dua sudu”.

When something has been reduced to or gone to the level of “abu dua sudu” it becomes meaningless or useless.

Which explains why Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg continued his assertion during the opening of Balingian Multipurpose Hall yesterday that the promise “belum menemui jawabannya”.

In other words, the promise has not been realised or it has no proper/acceptable explanation.

Abang Johari

Kamek bukan kedak ya, kamek yang kedak tok sik mok bulak. Saya sik mok pebulak, saya akan ditanya apabila saya mati kelak,” the chief minister continued.

[Paraphrased translation: He would not lie to the people because God will question his actions (lies) when he dies].

He said worst still there are some MPs and assemblymen who play politics of the dishonest. They would say, “If you do not cheat, you will not win.”

He stressed that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders would not behave in such a way because that would show lack of integrity and would not yield any benefit.

Abang Johari, who is also GPS president, said that leaders of the coalition have strong political integrity.

“I have been entrusted to be the chief minister to lead the state. As such, I will continue to fight for the rights of Sarawak and particularly to bring development to the rural areas,” he said.

“Only local leaders in GPS understand what the people of Sarawak want. Do not let outsiders (political parties) determine our future because they do not understand the culture of Sarawak,” he said.
