KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be holding a Hari Raya open house this year having not done so for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With that, he welcomed everyone to the gathering and said he was looking forward to meeting well-wishers that day.

“We are looking forward to meeting you there (Pullman Hotel),” he said and proceeded to urge all Sarawakians irrespective of races, ethnicities, religions and political inclinations to continue to strengthen the culture of respecting each other.

“Let us together celebrate this glorious day with the spirit of goodwill and friendship regardless of our religious and racial backgrounds even in these challenging circumstances,” he said.

True to his faith, he thanked God that Sarawak can transition to the endemic phase of the COVID-19 pandemic with flexible standard operating procedures (SOPs) so that the people can live their daily lives more comfortably.

“In 2020 and 2021, it was difficult to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri as the COVID-19 was spreading, but we remained strong in the face of all the challenges.

“I believe that despite the various challenges our commitment as Muslims has remained strong to seeking God’s forgiveness and mercy during Ramadan.

“And after a month of fasting, we celebrate the victory with gratitude for the blessings of patience to fast with other Muslims around the world,” he said.

Finally, Abang Johari, on behalf of his wife and family wishes everyone “Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.”
