Abdul Karim is Saberkas new president

MIRI: Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) deputy president, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, has been elected as its new president, taking over from the outgoing president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The choice of Karim was announced during Saberkas’ 16th triennial general meeting (TGM) held in Miri today.

As for Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, he was elected to replace Karim as deputy president.

Datuk Sharifah Hasidah, Dennis Ngau Jok and Martin Ben retained their posts as vice-presidents. Joining them is newly elected Abang Abdul Aziz Datuk Abang Abdul Rauf.

The new office bearers will serve from this year till 2030.

A total of 177 delegates from 59 branches statewide attended the TGM that was declared open by Abang Johari who is also chief Minister.

When met after the function, Karim stressed that Saberkas is a youth organisation for all races in Sarawak.

“Saberkas, which was formed in 1972, is a platform that helps groom our future leaders,” he said.
