ASSISTANT Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Abdullah Saidol has chided Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s over his remarks that the State 2020 Budget was another 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in the making.

Speaking to the media at the State Legislative Assembly building here yesterday, Abdullah said the allegation was serious and deemed an attempt to manipulate Sarawakians.

“Chong’s statement is a serious accusation and intentionally to create negative perception,” he said.

The assistant minister in charge of corporate affairs and the state’s public communication unit also said that Chong’s attitude was manipulation lead by Democratic Action Party (DAP).

“It is a clearly slander statement. Intentionally and publicly lying is part of DAP’s habit,” he added.

Abdullah also said that Chong should ask the Chief Minister regarding the alternative fund when delivering the winding-up speech.

“He should not jump the gun and just make wild allegation. I am sure enough that Chong will be given opportunity to ask during winding-up speech,” he said.

Abdullah said it was not fair for Chong to equate the state budget to 1MDB, which is still undergoing court proceedings.

“1MDB is a company that has been charged with corruption and power abuse. The trial is currently ongoing.

“Chong literally has made a serious accusation. The state budget is about the well-being and economy of Sarawak people,” Abdullah added.
