KUCHING: Abell Cluster here has officially ended today (Dec 12) after no new Covid-19 cases were reported within 28 days from the last detected case.

The last case was reported on Nov 14 involving Case 1,033 who is a child and close contact to a couple Case 1,010 and 1,012 reported on Nov 11 and 12 respectively.

“A total of 15 people were reported to be positive for the virus in relation to this cluster including the index case,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement.

The case index for the cluster was identified positive for Covid-19 as a result of voluntary screening at a private medical laboratory on Nov 10.

This cluster involved areas in Pending and Padungan.

With one cluster down, Sarawak still have three active clusters at present – Besi, Greenhill and Wisma Saberkas.

Kuching and Serian are yellow zones at present with a total of three cases of local infection reported in the last 14 days.
