‘The New Sarawak Tribune’ is an effort by a group of businessmen to retrieve the glory days of the now defunct ‘Sarawak Tribune’ (Sarawak’s oldest English daily set up in 1945), which was discontinued due to its publication of an Islamic caricature in 2006.
It was started in March 2006 almost immediately after ‘Sarawak Tribune’s demise under the name ‘Eastern Times’ and was renamed ‘New Sarawak Tribune’ in 2010.
Today, the ‘New Sarawak Tribune’ focuses on happenings in Sarawak’s cities, towns and small places no matter how remote they are and events in other states of Malaysia.
Circulation of the daily remains less known, but it does have its many loyal readers. With its team of competent and hardworking editorial people, it is a newspaper not to be ignored.
