SIBU: An accident victim succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Sibu Hospital on Saturday (Nov 14).

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit in a statement on Sunday, said the victim, identified as 56-year-old Kong Chak Sing, from Jalan Piasau, Miri, was pronounced dead at 4pm.

He said the victim suffered serious injuries after losing control of his car and crashing onto a tree before plunging into a ditch in an accident that occurred around 9.20am on Saturday.

“Preliminary investigation found that the car driven by the victim was moving straight from Durin Bridge towards Farley Supermarket via Jalan Salim-Stabau.

“The victim was later rushed to Sibu hospital by an ambulance for further treatment but was pronounced dead while receiving treatment,” he explained.

Stanley said the victim was driving alone during the incident.
