Accolades pour in for Daud

KUCHING: “I feel sad at the loss of Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman who has passed away,” said Minister of Works, Dato’ Sri Fadilah Yusof yesterday.

“Serving five terms as Tupong Stte Assemblyman, the late Daud had successfully defended Tupong as a stronghold for the Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Offering excellent service and people-friendly, he always went to the ground to be with the people and to solve problems. He was very much liked by the people of Tupong,” said Fadillah in his press release.
Sarawak, he added, had lost an authoritative, dedicated leader and a person who had contributed a lot to Sarawak, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Sarawak BN.

“Condolences to the family members. May he be placed among the faithful and good people, Al-Fatihah,” said Fadillah who is also Petra Jaya Member of Parliament.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing revealed that he had paid his last respect to Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman at the Timberland Medical Centre yesterday.

“I’ve lost a friend, the people of Kuching have lost a good former elected representative and the government has lost an able administrator who cares for the well-being of Sarawakians. May his soul rest in peace,” said Masing.

Tupong State Assemblyman, Fazruddin Abdul Rahman said that Datuk Haji Daud Abdul Rahman had contributed tremendously to both his constituency and the state.

“ We have lost a great leader. The last time I saw him was before Ramadan when we both attended a programme t in Gita Laut.

“Usually, I would visit him at his house to seek for advices to develop Tupong. He always advised me to spend some time with the voters in Tupong and also to fulfil their needs and wants.

“I’ve known him for 15 years now and he was my mentor and a father figure to me,” said Fazruddin during an interview yesterday at Daud’s residence.
