KUCHING: The Ministry of Works (KKR) welcomes National TVET Council (MTVET) meeting in certifying the establishment of the Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body (GITC).

In accordance with this, KKR opined that it is appropriate for the industry-led body to play an important role in the development of the country’s TVET human capital.

“This is to ensure that the direction of TVET development is in line with the needs and demands of the industry,” it said, adding that its minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof was among the 13 ministers who attended the MTVET teleconference.

Adding on to its statement on Friday (Feb 4), it mentioned that under the Ministry of Works, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia through its training centre Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) has trained more than 300,000 construction personnel and youths in various skill areas with industry collaboration.

“The training conducted by ABM emphasises on high impact construction skills such as crane and machinery operation, welding, scaffolding, electrical and mechanical installation, plumbing and refrigeration and air conditioning.
