KUCHING: The local community has to change their lifestyles and adapt to the new normal which incorporates the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said, compliance with the SOPs is important as the state is still experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases.
“We have to adapt to the current environment because we don’t know when Covid-19 will end.
“So we need to together curb the spread of this pandemic by adhering to every SOPs set.”
He said this at the presentation of Ramadan and Aidilfitri assistance organised by Yadim Sarawak at Darul Solihin Mosque in Kampung Telaga Air today (May 8).
Dr Abdul Rahman who is also the Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) advised the villagers to maintain safety and not violate SOPs for personal interests.
A total of 50 families from Kampung Telaga Air, Kampung Temenggong, Kampung Temedak, Kampung Sibu Laut and Kampung Sungai Aur received basic food assistance and cash from the Pantai Damai assemblyman.
He said the contribution was to help the elderly, single mothers and people with disabilities (OKU).
“Yadim’s initiative is a noble effort in helping the community with the participation of youth volunteers,” he said.
In this regard, he advised corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to organise welfare programmes to assist the needy.
