KUCHING: Houses within the Satok constituency are expected to be adorned with bright and colourful festive lights, pelita (traditional oil lamps) and decorations in conjunction with the Bertuntong Online Satok Kedua 2022 (BOS22) competition.

Jointly organised by Kamek Asal Orang Satok (KAOS), Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHE), Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) and Persatuan Koordinasi Pelancongan Satok (PKPS), the ongoing competition which started on April 23 will last till May 10.

The symbolic launching of the competition was officiated by Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki on Tuesday night (April 26) at the compound of Mahli Udin’s home in Kampung No 5 here.

Mahli is a past winner of the bertuntong competition.

Participation is open to all residents within the Satok constituency and for those who are originally from Satok, but residing outside the constituency.

There are three categories, namely Individual for Rumah Warisan Lama and Rumah Warisan Model, Village as well as Family for pictures of Keluargaku Raya Sedondon and Kuih Raya or Palak Meja.

Among the competition’s objectives are to preserve the village’s heritage tradition, to introduce the village heritage as a tourism product as well as to strengthen cooperation and ties between villages and government agencies.

Also present during the launching ceremony were KAOS chairman Mohamad Abdul Rahman Adenan, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok branch vice chief Hilmy Othman, political secretary to the premier Abdul Samat Ghani and other dignitaries.
